Inspections

Digley Associates specialise in undertaking inspections at all levels.

EN 1176 (Parts 1–11) Playground Equipment – General Safety Requirements and Test Methods, is the European Safety Standard that specifies the requirements for design, installation, maintenance and inspection of play equipment and its related surfacing. This standard recommends that an inspection regime should be put in place that is based upon the following structure:

Routine Visual Inspection – a basic inspection, every day or every week dependent upon use, location, age and materials used, intended to identify obvious hazards resulting from vandalism, use or weather conditions.

Operational Inspection – a more detailed inspection, every 1 – 3 months, to check the operation and stability of the equipment, in particular those component parts of the equipment that would be considered “sealed for life”

Annual Independent Inspection – a detailed inspection carried out at twelve monthly intervals that identifies failures to EN1176, maintenance issues, vandalism issues and much more.

Post Installation Inspection – an inspection immediately post installation, before handover is complete, to confirm that the installer has installed the equipment correctly.

Digley Associates undertake all their inspections using the ‘Playsafe’ web based asset management system, one of only a limited number of Inspection companies able to do so.
